Building thoughtful software with AI.Notes from the systems behind the work.
Dated availability and time-off exceptions now sit on top of weekly hours: an available window replaces that day's pattern, time off always wins, overnight shifts are checked per date, the same rule runs in the API and the Python solver, and a save only invalidates drafts on dates that actually changed.
Read moreA supplier sheet asks for several distinct items by repeating one generic line, and my import collapsed the repeats into a single product. Each repeat is now its own numbered slot, ordered by sheet position, with a store-by-store count check before anything is saved.
Collapsing repeated supplier-order lines on a cleaned-up display name would have folded distinct placeholder items into one line with the drop total still correct; the same day the key moved to the record ID, and the test that had agreed with the bug got rewritten.
The report claimed the full register discount from suppliers. Each row now works out the vendor share from wholesale cost, keeps the register figure beside it, and labels the rows that still fall back to it.
Trimming a paste template down to the slots I order from made every row below a dropped slot climb up in the vendor spreadsheet, while my order check stayed green. The export now walks a map of the sheet itself, parked rows and blank dividers included.
One placeholder product could fill several stock targets at a store, my cart only had room for one line per product, and the label I'd just shipped picked the biggest target every time. Now each line stores the target that produced it, and the importer refuses to flatten variant classes.
A display minimum applied to every eligible row meant allowed items with no recent sales could still get suggested orders, and the group planner ignored its own skip reason. The floor now applies only to required items, and the planner now respects that reason.
A round-to-full-cases button that skipped anything over one case led me to a cart field named for cases that actually held items, plus a hidden-product check that disappeared during a catalog move.
The sale tag in my point-of-sale system sits on a single package, not on a product, so I moved the on-sale report down to package rows and found the parts that still overcount.
Returns that arrived without line items were booked as nameless credits, so my sync now reads the original sale backward to find what came back and who supplied it, with a couple of holes I can still see.
The new board moves tracker tickets and planning-document tasks with the same drag, but tickets get a status change with an audit row while tasks rewrite their whole JSON document, with no history and a lost-update window I can't find a guard for.
The agent re-keyed staff chore preferences from names to IDs and normalized them at every stop, but on the store-admin page the digit pattern lived inside the wrong function, so saving any preference threw until an unrelated branch merged later that afternoon put one in scope.
The scheduling app's rule templates moved to the server, with the list call seeding a starter whenever a company's list is empty. Empty also means an admin deleted everything, so the starter comes back, and that same read writes to shared settings.
